Anyone is welcome to join Filey Sailing Club. You do not have to own a boat or need to know anything about sailing. Most people wishing to take an active part in the club join as either a Full member or a Family member. Under 18's not part of a Family membership can join for a reduced fee.
There are other classes of membership and those are listed in detail below.
To berth a boat on the club premises an extra charge is payable depending on the type and size of craft requiring a berth. Berths are allocated at the beginning of the year and as a result a member joining later in the year will find their berth quite some way down the dinghy park. Allocation of berths and berthing status is subject to lengthy and complex regulations which can be found below, or, in even greater detail within the club constitution.
Access to club is via gated road from The Country Park. Parking is available using the Pay and Dismay parking in The Country Park. An annual ticket is available from the Caravan Park park reception early in the year.
Open to all persons who, on the 1st January in the year of membership, are aged 18 years and over, who may sail or race as owner or crew and/or berth a boat at the club.

Only the first named member and spouse/partner, if aged 18 years and over, shall be considered to be Mutual Members. Children/wards included in the Family Membership shall have the status of Junior Members. All family members who expect to participate in watersports at the Club should be named on the Duties Form. Participating family members aged 16 or over will be expected to perform duties at the Club.

They will not be eligible for inclusion in any racing results. The day sailing fees per boat are: Single-handed: £:7 Double-handed: £:12
Berthing is available to members for an annual fee.
Providing the application forms are returned by the 1st February, berths shall be allocated in order of seniority based on the unbroken record of berthing on the basis one berth per Full, Family, Student or Junior Member.
Any member who returns an application form after 1st February will go to the end of the list for that year only, but will return to the correct position the following year, provided the forms are returned in time.
Second boats will be berthed according to the date that the second boat joined the club, not the member.
Craft wider than 2.5m will be allocated berthing at the discretion of the Club Committee.
All boats must be insured and well secured.
No road trailers are to be left at the Club.
Some boats may have to be moved during special events to accommodate the Club Marquee and visiting boats.
Please note: In the event of members or former members leaving boats in berths for which no payment has been received, the Club will have the right to sell or otherwise dispose of these boats. Proceeds of the sale returned to the club member after all expenses for the sale have been deducted. The member/former member will be given due notice of this taking place, and so be given opportunity to remove the boat.
