RYA Basic Navigation & Safety Course
A new classroom based course ideal for those new to yachting or power boating and for those wishing to revise and update their sailing skills. The course will be interactive and practical with plenty of group discussions and instructor led demonstrations with lots of toys to play with. The course will cover charts, navigation, safety, anchoring, tides, IRPCS, weather and pilotage.Held on Saturday 19th & 26th April 2008

LEARN TO SAIL WEEKS 2008
Option 1
Saturday 24th May to Wednesday 28th May 2008 inclusive,
Option 2
Saturday 2nd August to Wednesday 6th August 2008 inclusive
FSC Clubhouse 9.30am -- 5.00pm each day
Bring : At least one complete change of warm clothing or a wetsuit
Waterproof jacket and trousers.
Socks and old trainers or wetboots.
Hat/cap and gloves.
Sunglasses and suncream.
Notebook & pencil
Packed lunch-(-tea/coffee/cans available at Club)
Soap and towel for the showers afterwards
Provided : RYA Course Manual & Logbook
Use of Club boats and Personal Buoyancy Vests
Safety boats present during all on-water activities
Cost : £ 275 Adults £ 175 under 18
This includes Full Membership of FSC for 2008 season
Award : Successful completion of the 5-day course will lead to the award of an RYA Level 2 Dinghy Sailing Certificate with a Coastal Endorsement.
Instructors : FSC has ten RYA-qualified Dinghy Instructors who will teach this course under the direction of Peter Crooks (Senior Instructor / Principal)
Follow Up: On completion of the RYA level 2 (adults) and RYA stage 3 (junior/youth) course your membership is for the remaining part of the club membership year. During this time you will also be able to use the clubs dinghies for further practice. Permission is required from a qualified instructor before you are allowed to use a club dinghy. This is to ensure that weather conditions are suitable for you. Normally, this will be on a Sunday when there is safety boat cover on the water.
